2025 Questions for Town of Sexsmith Election Forum

The Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce will host a Municipal Election Forum for the Town of Sexsmith on October 1, 2025 at the Sexsmith Civic Centre. Attendees will be able to submit questions for consideration at the event, but this form is your opportunity to pre-submit questions for either the Mayoral and/or Council candidates. We ask you to keep your preamble brief and to be succinct with your question. Not all questions may be asked during the forum due to time constraints but we will do our best to make the candidates aware of as many questions as are submitted.

A reminder of what level of government is responsible for which issues:

The Alberta Chambers of Commerce (ACC) has released its 2025 Vote Prosperity—a platform of business priorities to inform the election. Vote Prosperity 2025 highlights four priority “pillars” for business leaders in Alberta:

Strengthening business competitiveness by boosting tax competitiveness, reducing municipal franchise fees, streamlining permitting processes, and establishing clear and consistent regulatory guidelines

Growing business partnerships by engaging business leaders, advancing economic development with investor input, strengthening communication with the private sector, and fostering collaboration with economic development agencies

Building healthy communities by increasing housing supply, improving public safety, enhancing transportation infrastructure, and focusing on core mandates

Improving government accountability by increasing transparency in municipal budgets, assessing the impact of taxes and fees, enhancing communication of regulatory processes, and simplifying municipal tax gudiance

These four pillars—and their associated recommendations—are based on the advocacy and research of the Alberta chambers network. Vote Prosperity recommendations are based on direct insights from Alberta’s business community and, as such, represent priorities broadly shared by business constituents. Individual recommendations may or may not fit a unique local context as municipalities vary widely.
